Beautifully different

December 8 – Beautifully Different. Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful.

It’s hard for me to say what makes me beautiful or different, because a lot of the time I don’t feel like I’m either.

I’m smart, but so are each and every one of my friends. I am by no means the smartest or even the best educated. So being smart, or good at school, is just normal.

I write, but so do a lot of my closest friends, some much better than I. Writing is something that has brought me closer to so many of my friends, something I share with some of my favourite people.

I read a lot, but where I come from books are like water, essential and constant. All of my friends are readers.

I can tell you a great deal about greek pots and/or Greek mythology. But does that really light people up?

I’d like to say that if there’s anything I do that truly lights people up it’s that I’m very good at being a friend. I will do anything and everything for my friends. I love people without restraint, a fact that quite often gets me hurt. I care so much about my friends, they’re the best part of my life. I hope that they know that and I hope that it makes them feel safe and loved.

But again, I’m not sure if that makes me “beautifully different.” So maybe I should ask you, what makes me different and/or beautiful?

You are AWESOME at being a friend. You consistently know exactly what to say.

You and Kitty are tied for the most well-travelled of my friends, too?

Greek mythology lights me up but that’s because you say things like Minotaur funny hehe

For me though you are beautiful because you are a geek. Sure almost everyone I know is a geek but you are a geek of things that are extra geeky which makes you extra special in my eyes.

Plus your hair (and a few other attributes hehe) are very beautiful indeed! :-)

You’re the one I can count on to talk with me about computers as we craft, eat Liptons, and watch god-awful Family channel movies in my bed. You have loved me unconditionally for 22 years. For me to try and explain why I’ve loved you the same for all of that time would be pretty much impossible. <3

Let’s start with your beautiful way with words, I can’t tell you how much I love the way you put this “books are like water, essential and constant.” It expresses my own thoughts on books. Your blog is the only blog I read regularly and stop and check in for new posts.

You’re a great friend, always there when I need you. You listen with an unbiased ear. Yet you will tell me what I want to hear, what I don’t want to hear, and often a perspective that I can’t see. A message from you always cheers up my day.

We don’t always talk regularly, but it’s never awkward conversation, and I really love that about you. It’s always like a talked to you the other day, not sometimes the other month. We can talk about just about anything, and rarely run out of things to say.

You’re adventurous. You’re one of the only people I know who will move to a new country on their own and make it all one big adventure. Whether, it’s eating pastries, travelling to Scotland for a weekend trip, or just grabbing coffee or shambos, you make it all fun.

You remind me of a beautiful wood nymph, with your shockingly blue eyes and red hair.
